Congratulations! You’ve taken the first step to becoming the CEO of your family managing your household like a business. This guide will help familiarize you with your new family management notion planner and how to use it.


FAMILY PLANNER
The home page of your notion planner serves as a dashboard giving you a bird’s eye view of your priorities, schedule, goals and to-dos.

- Top 3 Priorities
Update this section at the start of the week with the 3 big projects you want to make sure get done.

- Today’s To-Dos
You can add your to-dos directly into this section. It will also auto populate and show a roll up of all of the ‘To-Do’s’ listed on each of the department pages. The Today tab automatically filters so that you will also see tasks with a due date of today. The Overdue tab automatically filters to show any previous tasks not yet marked as complete.

- This Week’s Schedule
Update this section at the start of each week with anything you need to plan for or around.

- Upcoming Action Items
You can add your to-dos directly into this section. It will also auto populate and show a roll up of all of the ‘To-Do’s’ listed on each of the department pages. The This Week tab automatically filters so that you will also see tasks with a due date this week. The This Month tab automatically filters to show any previous tasks with a due date this month.

- Goals this Month
This section reflects goals added into the Goal’s Hub page.

- Monthly Highlights
Fill in each month with anything you need to plan for or around such as holidays, birthdays, and travel.

TO-DO'S HUB
This is where you can find all of your to-dos rolled up from each of your household departments and see them in different views. You can add your to-dos directly into this page. Each table will also auto populate and show a roll up of all of the ‘To-Do’s’ listed on each of the department pages. From here you can view your to-dos by due date, status, in a calendar, or broken out by department.


GOALS HUB
The Goals Hub is where you can find & keep track of all of your monthly, quarterly and annual goals. Any updates made here will be reflected wherever else the goals appear. You can view your goals by Status, Type, and Department.


THE BIG PICTURE
This is where you can create clarity around what the priorities are for you and your family. I find completing this section to be helpful when determining the priority of different tasks.

- Family Mission
Write out your family’s core purpose here. This should reflect your family’s values and goals and serve as a north star for how you prioritize your time.

- Personal Vision
Write out your personal vision for the next 1 - 5 years. This should reflect what role you want to play in your family and how you want to show up for them and yourself.

- Vision Board
Here you can embed a picture of your vision board.. This can either be done directly or via Canva.

- Personal Values
Write out the core principles and beliefs that guide your actions and priorities. These help define who you are and what’s worthy of your time.

- Priorities for the Year
Write out what 3 big things you want to devote your energy and attention to this year. These are umbrellas underneath which you can set goals.


DEPARTMENTS
Every household department has its own page. I have established the categories that make sense for my family. You may choose to keep these or select others. At the top of each page you have the opportunity to define what that department will be responsible for. There is also a section for you to list out what each department’s top priorities are for the year.

-To Dos
Each page has a to-do list with views filtered by due date. My practice is to start each week by adding and checking things off the to-do list on each department’s page. Whatever you add here will roll up to the lists found on the Family Planner and To-Dos Hub pages.

-Team
This is where you can create a database of any key people you help you complete your to-dos. These may partners, contractors, teachers or anyone else who you might get help from.

-Tools
Here you can create a list of any websites, apps, or other tools that help you complete your work. For example you may link to a budgeting tool you use in Finance or the site you use to send out party invitations.

-Goals
This section reflects the goals you’ve added to the Goal’s Hub. You can also add new goals directly on the department page.
